Controller's Office records series, 1917-1948.

The Controller's Office records series consists of six subseries. The Correspondence subseries, 1926-1946 (9.6 cubic ft.), Acc. 49, includes correspondence, financial studies, sales reports, employment applications, and working papers from staff in the Auditing Department, Accounting Department, Foreign Operations Department, and Controller's Office of the International Division. The subseries includes program and operations correspondence with Amtorg Trading Corporation, a Soviet Union trade office in New York City that Ford Motor Company worked with in an attempt to establish and expand service and manufacturing operations for Ford products in the Soviet Union. The subseries also includes foreign branch financial reports and credit analysis primarily from Ford offices in Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, and Uruguay with additional material from Ford offices in China and Japan. The Photographs subseries, 1935-1936 (1.2 cubic ft. and 3 volumes), Acc. 49 consists of building exterior and office photographs of Ford manufacturing and assembly plants in Belgium, Denmark, Egypt, England, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden. The Maps subseries, 1930-1935 (0.8 cubic ft.), Acc. 49, consists of topographical and street maps of cities in Brazil, Chile, Columbia, and Mexico where Ford Motor Company sales branches, assembly plants, and factories were located. The Trade Journals and Publications subseries, 1939-1948 (4 cubic ft.), Acc. 49, consists of an irregular run of the U. S. Department of Commerce's Automotive Foreign Trade Manual, 1936-1948, summarizing registrations of new motor vehicles in selected countries around the world; the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Ltd. bulletins summarizing automobile imports and exports to the United Kingdom as well as motorized vehicle regulations in countries around the world; and automotive advertising samples. The Subject Files subseries, 1917-1948 (1.2 cubic ft.), Acc. 58, consists of financial reports, sales and production reports, purchasing records, and tax related material from senior management at Ford Motor Company, Ltd., to staff in the Auditing Department, Accounting Department, Controller's Office, and Office of the Secretary. The E. J. Palumbo records subseries, 1939-1947 (1.6 cubic ft.), Acc. 709, consists of foreign bank account reconciliation statements and reports from Ford plants and branches overseas. The subseries primarily covers the pre-war period when Palumbo worked in the Auditing Department.
